Background
The client had previously engaged Ark Energy for energy retrofit work. However, after the measurement and verification reporting period concluded and the ESCO departed, the client experienced a concerning decline in energy savings performance, losing approximately 10–15% annually. This deterioration threatened the integrity of 1.1 million AED in realized savings. The client sought a solution to monitor asset performance and preserve their energy savings achievements.
The Challenge
- Limited Data Visibility — The existing metering infrastructure did not provide live access to high-definition data trends.
- Inconsistent Reporting — Absence of regular, well-structured energy savings reports essential for maintaining savings integrity.
Main Objective
The project aimed to integrate an energy management system addressing specific client needs:
- Independent of the ESCO, with ease of customization and a cost-effective platform.
- Enables ISO 50001 certification and automated measurement and verification reporting per IPMVP standards.
- Verifies data quality and validates communication with field sensors.
- Provides a user-specific interface and a smooth dashboard and reporting experience.
- Monitors performance of process equipment and field sensors with AI capability.
- Provides data analytics essential to investigate conservation measures.
- Integrates into the BMS to avoid any data manipulation and stores data indefinitely.
Our Approach
- Digitalization Assessment — Strategically prioritized energy equipment and KPIs for monitoring; evaluated digital maturity for efficient data connectivity.
- Gateway Integration — Established connection to capture data from field sensors and meters, channeling data into the arkEMIS platform.
- Verification & Validation — Benchmarked received data against historical trends to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Customization — UX/UI design creating customized dashboards and automated reports tailored for each client team based on access rights.
- Alarm Configuration — Set up proactive notifications and alarms to address potential issues.
- Go Live — Activated all analytical modules, initiated automated reporting and alarms, and deployed Data Analysts and Energy Managers for optimal functionality.
